Looking To Lose That Last Bulge? Consider Mini Liposuction

Are you an otherwise skinny person with a few pockets of fat that you’d like to get rid of before hitting the beaches this summer? Or are you a person who has dieted and exercised your way to losing alot of weight and are just a few pounds and inches short of your ideal figure? Then liposuction may be the ticket to getting the body that exists in your mind’s eye. Liposuction has been around for decades, but recent advances in techniques have enabled surgeons to go after areas that were previously deemed too difficult to target. These areas are typically worked on using a type of liposuction called mini liposuction.

Liposuction - What Is It?

Liposuction is a cosmetic surgery procedure where the surgeon uses a cannula and a strong vacuum to remove fatty deposits from areas underneath the skin in order to provide a more smooth looking contour. This procedure can be performed when a patient has alot of fat. However, if a patient only has a minimal amount of fat to remove, then mini liposuction is considered.

Mini liposuction is performed almost exactly like its traditinal cousin with a few small differences. Mini liposuction is quicker and is used on smaller areas and with smaller cannulas. It is used on those patients who either have a small area in which to remove fat or have tough areas that have fat accumulated. The biggest difference between traditional and mini liposuction is actually an advantage for mini liposuction. Traditional liposuction usually requires general anesthesia whereas mini liposuction only requires local anesthesia.

Who Can Have Mini Liposuction?

If you are eighteen years or older then you are eligible for liposuction surgery. You must also be in good physical condition with no medical conditions that would preclude surgery being performed. Additionally, if you are smoker, you will need to refrain from smoking at least two weeks prior to the surgery being performed. This is because smoking constricts blood vessels and these blood vessels will be needed to bring blood and healing to the areas that were invaded by the cannula.

Where On the Body Is Mini Liposuction Done?

This type of liposuction can be performed anywhere on the body that has a small amount of fat deposited under the skin. The neck, ankles and under the arms are perfect places for mini liposuction to be performed. The surgeon will be able to help you identify the areas that should be targeted with this type of liposuction.

Talk To Your Surgeon

A meeting with your surgeon before the surgery is always wise. This meeting is to establish your expectations and the surgeon’s assessment of your body’s ability to undergo invasive surgery. Medical issues that may cause complications during surgery must be disclosed so that nothing goes wrong during the surgery. You will go over your touble areas with the surgeon. Ask questions of the surgeon and be open to suggestions from them as well.

Liposuction and mini liposuction can help you achieve your dream body. Discuss with your surgeon your goals and work with them to achieve it and you wont be disappointed.
